Smudgy Brownhat, a beloved kitten, passed away on March 5, 2026, at just 5½ months old. Smudgy was born in September 2025 and came into the lives of his family in the most special way,he simply showed up in their yard and never left, choosing Justina and Edwin Brownhat to be his Mommy and Daddy.
In the short time he was here, Smudgy filled his home with joy, laughter, and love. He loved playing with any toy that made noise, especially his favorite fluffy multicolored ball with the little jiggle ball inside. Smudgy also enjoyed watching the birds and playing with the other cats. When it came to treats, he never turned down a lickable treat and happily enjoyed any he was given.
Smudgy had a protective and affectionate personality. He always seemed to watch over Mommy and Daddy and grew into a cuddly kitten who loved pets, snuggles, and nose kisses from Mommy. He was playful and energetic, and there was almost always a toy nearby wherever he went.
Daddy’s favorite memory of Smudgy was how he would sit patiently under the tree or the steps, waiting for him to get out of the vehicle so he could walk with him in the yard. Mommy’s favorite memory was holding Smudgy for the very first time, smelling his soft fur and kissing his nose while he looked up at her.
Smudgy shared his home with his furry siblings Dwight, Chase, Harpurr, Mama, Pot Roast, and Nosey, who will surely miss their playful little companion.
Though his time here was far too short, Smudgy brought immeasurable happiness to those who loved him.
“We will always love you, Baby. You made us laugh and smile in the short time we had you here. You made us very happy, and you were deeply loved. Enjoy Heaven with everyone we hold closely in our hearts. They will take good care of you.”
“God will provide us with everything we need to be happy in Heaven. And if animals are necessary to make us completely happy there, you can be confident He will arrange for them to be with us.”—Billy Graham
