In Loving Memory of JR

JR, a one-of-a-kind soul and deeply loved member of the family, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 16.

He came into our lives in 2010 alongside his sister Bella, seeking refuge from a difficult situation down the street. What started as a safe place to land quickly became his forever home. From that moment on, JR never left. 

JR was unforgettable in every way. With his all-white coat and a perfectly placed orange butterfly marking on his head, he had a look that was as unique as his personality. He was a big boy in his prime stretching 27 inches long and weighing in at a solid 20 pounds but despite his size, he carried himself with an easygoing, laid-back charm that made him the “coolest cat” around.

He loved spending time outside, especially laying in the sun, enjoying the warmth and peacefulness of the day.

He had his quirks, too. JR would open his mouth to meow, but no sound would come out, as if he had his own silent language. Most of the time, he acted like he couldn’t hear a thing, and his eyes were often closed, leaving us to wonder if he could even see. But JR always knew exactly what he was doing.

One of the most unforgettable moments showed just how fearless he really was. While sitting patiently at the door waiting to be let inside, a neighbor’s pit bull broke through a fence and charged toward him. In what could have been a terrifying ending, JR calmly turned, lifted his massive paw, and swatted the dog square in the face. The dog yelped in shock, and before it could react, JR had already made his way safely to the backyard door, waiting cool as ever to be let in. That was JR  unbothered, unshaken, and completely in control.

JR shared a special bond with his family. He was dearly loved by his owner, Robin Duprey. He was close to Eddie, the family dog, his little kitty brother Jack, and his sister Bella. He also shared a unique connection with Sam she was the one who “set him free.” No matter what was going on, whenever Sam came to the house, JR always made his way to her lap.

JR brought years of comfort, laughter, and love into our lives. His quiet presence spoke volumes, and his memory will forever live on in the stories we tell and the space he filled in our hearts.

He may have been silent, but he was never unnoticed—and he will never be forgotten.
